10 DIY Mobile Home Improvement Projects

Mobile home improvement projects can be difficult. It may seem like there isn’t much you can do for your mobile home, but the truth is you can do a lot to improve the condition of your living space. These simple mobile home improvement projects can help you make a big difference to your home, and are easy to take on by yourself. It’s important to take care of your space, to make it look its best, and this guide will help you take matters into your own hands.

First, it’s important to take stock of the current condition of your mobile home. Make a list of all the things that you could improve or change, and then set up a budget that you can easily afford. Keep a weekend or two free, and you are all set to give your home a rocking makeover!

  1. Let’s make an entrance!

Transform the entrance of your house from something plain or boring to something that represents your style. Fixing up old hinges and handles is a good start, but you can take things even further by replacing your current door with something more stylish and appealing. Clear away the cobwebs, dirt, and debris from around your entrance, and you can contemplate putting up an awning above your door! Your guests will always see your entrance, so give them something to talk about!

  1. Paint, paint, paint!

Grab yourself some paint cans and go to work on the walls of your mobile home! Sprucing up the walls or fully committing to painting over your whole house can be a great fix to a stale, bland living space. You can choose colors based on the aesthetic you want to create or you can look at what would suit your current décor better!

  1. Treat your walls!

Much like painting, you can use a few other techniques to spruce up your walls. You can create an accented wall with a beautiful mural, or an interesting paint pattern. You could also get a bit extravagant and get some wall panels to add a more personalized touch to your home. Wall panels are generally light in weight and easy to use, so even beginners will be able to install them!

  1. Reinvent that kitchen!

Would your kitchen look better with a new countertop? Perhaps your appliances would better serve you in different places? How about giving yourself more space, by creating more storage for your kitchen?

These are just a few ways in which you can creatively redesign your kitchen without breaking the bank! You can make yourself hanging cabinets, or perfectly organize a large spice rack…there are so many possibilities!

  1. Lights!

A well-lit home can be a luxury, but it doesn’t have to be difficult to achieve. Spend some time figuring out if you can change your lights to more efficient options, as well as new positions for them. You may find that a few simple light fixture changes can brighten up your entire home. Similarly, if you prefer a darker, more subdued light tone, you can replace your light fixtures with low-intensity lamps and light streamers, which can enhance your rooms, while keeping the light levels low!

  1. Bathe in style!

When you take a shower, do you wish your showerhead had more water pressure or that your floors were less slippery? You can solve these issues and more, by designing a better bathroom! You can scrub the grime off the walls, check for mold or stagnant water or blocked drains, replace gunky faucets, and install towel racks. Remember, showers can be extremely restorative, so enjoy where you take them!

  1. Slide down some stairs!

Building a mobile home staircase is one of the more challenging DIY projects you may choose to undertake. You can use wood to build the stairs and aluminum for the railings. However, if you want a long-term solution, you can invest in prefabricated fiberglass stairs that come with built-in railings, which also saves you a lot of construction work.

  1.  Add some rugs, tapestries, or art!

Rugs can make any room seem so…comfy! If you aren’t happy with the state of your floors or the bareness of your walls, consider buying some rugs, throws, tapestries or framed artwork to hang around your house. You can even create your own artwork and change it up whenever you feel like it. Thrift stores are excellent places to find some real gems that may help uplift the entire vibe of your mobile home!

  1.  Windows to the world!

If you haven’t already, consider updating your windows. Insulated windows can be a great energy saver in cold weather, and can help you save a lot in energy costs as well. Installing new windows can be tricky, but they can pay for themselves in the long run. You could also choose to add shutters to your windows or bug-repellant netting, to help you beat the heat and keep your house safe from bugs in warmer weather!

  1.  Minimize the clutter!

Perhaps you don’t have the budget for a large-scale makeover, or maybe you just don’t have the time. Something simple that you can do is to minimize the amount of things you have or to find better storage solutions for the mess and clutter within your home. By decongesting your home, you will find that perhaps your home is exactly the way you like it – sans junk. You can also get rid of any extra décor, furniture, or hardware that seems excessive, and make a move toward practicality and efficiency!

Whatever projects you may choose to take on, make sure you are prepared ahead of time. Whether you want a complete remodel, or a slight change, it’s important, to be honest with yourself – Do you have the time for it? Is it within your budget? Will it make your home look better?

If you are convinced, go for it – take the plunge, and here’s hoping you love your mobile home’s new look! You can also get manufactured home insurance at low rates at Cover Tree.
